Bournemouth U23s 0-1 Aston Villa U23s
A great win against a really good side. The teams started with identical league records so someone was always going to have to take the initiative. Fortunately we managed to get the counter away from home and come away with the three points in a really tight affair.

In truth we were on top for large periods creating almost 3 times as many chances as the home side with 8 on target to their 3. We had most of the possession and 5 corners to 0. But it wasn't until the 67th minute when the difference came - Armando Broja heading home from a ball played my man of the match Harry Souttar. Once we had the lead we protected it and they never really looked like getting an equaliser.

The result picks us up to third in the early league table and such a small league means these results can ive you real advantage over rivals. But also you know you'll face them again soon and they'll be out to avenge it.

The negative of the game was a nasty injury to star attacking midfielder Karamoko Dembele who suffered a nasty gash on his leg and looks like he'll be out for a few matches. We don't have the biggest squad and that will definitely cost us. Hopefully some of the other lads can step up and make a difference without him but we may revert to five at the back a lot over these next games.

But that just took the gloss off a very good away win. We had the blip against Arsenal but that is now behind us and we are back to being positive about hopefully the makings of a good season.
