Boston win 5-4 on penalties

For the third season in a row our season ends with a cup final defeat where we fail to score. There has only been one goal in those three finals but our abysmal record in shootouts continues. Across the two Villa teams this is our 7th straight shootout loss - you have to go back to the U23 cup final of season 19 for the last one we won. Overall we have won just four of the fourteen finals we have been in under my management!

Still - we are proud of how the season has gone as we took back to back league titles and flew the flag for the U23s in this competition. The senior NL teams are generally better than the U23s so it's a great acheivement to make it all the way to the final and not lose in 120 mins in that one!

The good news of the week is that the cap on U23s has gone up so this roster will stay together for another year. We'll have a full team of top rated U23 players as we look to go for the three peat of league titles - and maybe even win a cup and a shootout in doing it.

So not the result we wanted here but positives for the future of the team!

I have to say @Nocky that I think you were incredibly unlucky here.
Daniel had requested a random and that he got, so to lose against that is unlucky. I don't look at it just run it and post then look after if there are problems or queries or something interests me like a final.
The fact it gave him a 442D is very unlucky considering what you had chosen and I tend to think that if he was not on holiday and had sheeted that you would not have faced a D.
We won't know what he would have gone or that you would have won but I tend to think anything but that D and you'd have been in with a good shot at the win.

On another note you can thank @willz121 for the 20 increase and adding to FMFA sales as well as he championed or put the case for it. I will be doing my damndest to stop you this season as we chugging along winning the title before your rise and want to get back there. I am sure a few others do too so be ready for a fight as it may not be easy this coming season. Good luck though in it as it will be a feat to go 3 on the bounce.

Thanks David. It is what it is - D is never ideal to come up against but can't be helped.

As for next season - it will definitely not be easy! I know plenty will be coming for us. Look forward to the challenge!
