Wolves 1-2 Brentford.
A very tough game for us, there keeper was on top form and nothing was getting past him in open play. If our striker had scored the first of his two pens that could have been a different game as we would have had an early lead. Goalkeeper rice has had two very good games despite letting in goals. We did play some good football so there are positives to take however with two games over in the group stages our chances of qualifying are looking slim currently if things don't improve. While the league is our priority we still want our fringe players to make good accounts of themselves and fight for a place in the side.

Aston Villa U23 1-1 Liverpool U23
The first of what is likely to be several meetings and great tussles over the season between these two and honours even in this one. Both teams scored early with Javaun Splatt equalising for us. After that we had the better of the game but their GK played well and we'll have to settle for the point. Still, unbeaten through our first two games and in a good place to be progressing from the group but dropping points at home is far from ideal. Still, the unbeaten start to the season continues and we move on
Derby County U23s 0-1 Leeds United U23s
We bounced back well after our opening round home defeat and grabbed a vital win on the road at Derby. The game looked like it was heading for a draw before Luca Picotto rose in the 85th minute to head home the winner. Group F could now not be tighter with every game having finished 1-0 and each team one win each. Looks like this one is going to go right down to the wire

Sunderland U23 0 - 1 Bournemouth U23
Ok this is a poor result at home. We went with the sort of structure that we saw so much success with last season. Bournemouth played a pretty typical cup match away type setup and we were just second best all day. Had an opportunity to salvage a point but Wilson missed his second penalty of the season. He's only 16, big things expected of him, he's still going to be our spot kick taker. Have to back your blokes in, gotta take them to miss them and that's all just part of learning the craft.

Crystal_Palace_U23 3 - 0 West_Ham_United_U23
"Eagles flying high"
Crystal Palace U23 delivered a dominant 3-0 win over West Ham United U23 at Beckenham. The Eagles struck early when F_Cowin’s effort deflected in off the unfortunate F_Herrick, before R_Anderson doubled the lead with a composed finish. Palace controlled possession and created chances at will, with M_Bogusz heavily involved throughout. Despite F_Herrick making several impressive saves, he was beaten again late on as M_Bogusz sealed the victory. West Ham threatened sporadically, with M_Halim their brightest outlet. Palace’s defensive solidity and attacking sharpness ensured a comfortable and deserved three points.

Chelsea U23 0 - 1 Coventry City U23
You couldn't split the two teams if you tried, but thankfully Betjemann got a goal to get us a vital win. Seeing as we had tactical advantage, it seemed to only level the playing field as both sides were completely even for stats throughout. A solitary goal was enough, and thankfully we claimed the points.
Tottenham Hotspur U23 1 - 0 Brighton U23
If the Chelsea vs Coventry game was level, this was a shellacking! Spurs absolutely dominated the tie and how we escaped with only a one goal defeat is a miracle! Glad to put this one behind us and move on... quickly!
