    Jet Cup Final

Crystal Palace v Liverpool We face Liverpool in the final of the Jet Cup after just about coming through the semi final unscathed. Liverpool are a top quality side along with one of the best managers around so this will be a good test for us to see how far we really have come.

    Quarter Finals

Aston Villa 0 - 0 Crystal Palace (Crystal Palace win 4-3 on penalties) Pleased what we just edged this one with the lottery of penalties. In fairness, Villa can feel a little hard done by as they had the better of the play, had more possesion than us and created but opportunites on goal but wasted a number of chances. Chris Mepham came off the bench to make his debut and looked solid however it was the same team as last season that saw us through in this one. We have been drawn against Tottenham Hostpur in the semi final of the competition where we will have new signing Patrick Cutrone available for selection for the game.

  5. PLAYERS RETURN FOR PRE SEASON TRAINING Today see's Crystal Palace's players return for pre season training, ahead of their first game against Aston Villa on Sunday evening. As the players arrived at the Crystal Palace FC Training Ground in Beckenham this morning, there was just the one new face arriving through the door. That was Welsh international defender Chris Mepham who was signed in the auction just last week and was seen as a real coup for the Eagles at the price the paid. The players looked in high spirits as they arrived, however manager Gary Goodson was quick to state that last season is in the past and that a long hard season lay ahead for his Eagles side. "We have to focus on the new season ahead" Goodson said. "We did brilliantly last season and we must not forget that but the task in hand is now to focus on the season ahead as it will be a tough one for us". Asked whether he was concerned that only one new face had arrived through the door and a number had left, Goodson 39, replied "Not at all, we have a great bunch of lads here who want to build on last season and have a better one this time around. We are looking to bring at least another face through the door and have also promoted a couple of lads from the u23's who we feel can make a real impact this season. I am in daily contact with Simon and he assures me he and his team are working hard at the targets I have identified".

    Quarter Final Draw

Aston Villa v Crystal Palace First game of pre season see's us up against Aston Villa. As like any pre season, results are not the main priority here as we will be looking to try out a few things ahead of the start of the regular season next month but Villa will be a good test for us.

  11. PALACE SIGN MEPHAM Crystal Palace have confirmed the signing of Welsh u21 international defender Chris Mepham ahead of the new season. Mepham, 21, was secured in the 1st round of the pre-season auction with the initial fee believed to be £20m, eventually rising up to £32m. The deals an excellent piece of business from the Eagles who were keen to add to their defensive options ahead of the new season after the loans of Jamaal Lascelles and Ruben Duarte came to an end at the end of the season, with manager Gary Goodson deciding against making either one permanent. Palace chairman Steve Parish was delighted with the signing “This is a great piece of business for us and Chris is a player who we really like. He fits the mould of the type of player we are looking to bring into the football club, young, hungry and their best years ahead of them. At just 21, Chris has a bright future in the game, and he look forward to seeing him develop here at Crystal Palace”. When quizzed if any other business would be conducted, Parish said “Their will be at least one more arrival. Gary has made it clear he wants another forward in and we are working hard to find the right target. We had a great season last time around but if there was one area that we could have improved upon, it was goals as they were hard to come by at times last season. With an increase in the number of games we will play this season due to our involvement in the Anglo-American Trophy, we want another option up front for Gary and he has made it clear to us that he feels this is needed”. Parish also confirmed that there will be some players leaving the club with the likes of Puncheon, Boateng, Chung-Yong, Kaikai and Anderson all set to leave. “We needed to reduce the size of the squad and these lads need to leave to get regular football elsewhere as Gary has let them know they do not figure in his long-term plans for the club”.

    YDL Cup Final Result

Burnley u21 2 - 1 Crystal Palace A disappointing end to our u21 campaign as we lose the Cup FInal but overall, it has been a great season. Very disappointed to see a team switching to D tactic at u21 level. Regardless of the scoreline, that is something we would never do at this level but each to their own. Think we deserved more than what we got on the day but as I have said, we have had a good season and look forward to going again soon, this time in Division 1.
  20. Burnley u21 v Crystal Palace u21 After the high of winning the playoff final and promotion to Division One, we now face a very strong, very dangerous Burnley side in the Youth Cup final. We have fitness issues so we will be again utilising the squad as we have done throughout the season and will put a team out that we hope can bring the trophy home. Regardless of the result, we have had a great season with promotion and a cup final but we will be giving it our all one last time this season.
  21. West Ham United u21s v Crystal Palace u21s We finish our youth league campaign with a playoff final against a very good, very organised West ham United side. It's been a long season, we just have one final hurdle to get over. We have some fitness issues so we will be making changes ahead of the game and hope to come away with the victory.
  22. Crystal Palace 0 - 0 Manchester United (Manchester United win 4-5 on penalties) A sickening way to lose a Cup Final, especially when we went 3-1 up in the shootout, but we struggled to deal with the pressure of the occasion and ultimately, I think it is a fair result in the end. Hard to feel too down after this result as we have had a wonderful season overall, but when you get so close to have it taken away in the cruelest fashion is hard to take. We tried to take the game to them with De Gea out injured but we conceded more possession than our opponents and wasted a number of opportunities to seal it in normal time. Congrats Tom on the win
  23. Crystal Palace v Manchester United A big day for all Eagles fans as we make an unexpected Cup Final appearance. Any game against Manchester United is always going to be a tough ask no matter what side they put out due to their quality but we are quietly optimistic after the season we have had.
  24. Manchester United 2 - 2 Crystal Palace With everything to play for going into this game, we were optimistic that we could get a result and make it through to the playoff final. In truth, we were very lucky to get through on away goals, mainly thanks to Matt Funnell in goal as he produced 13 saves to just see us through. The red card certainly made things difficult for us for the final half hour but we just about managed to hang on and now we face West Ham United in the playoff final.
