Cityzens 2 - 3 Reds

We came away with a narrow win at Etihad Stadium but we made it very difficult for ourselves. We scored three great goals but had 25 attempts on goal, 15 of them hitting the target. We should have scored more than three goals. When you then play a poor defensive game, we almost threw away three points. The home side opened the score through Luis Diaz before Sandro Tonali levelled after twenty minutes played. Brian Brobbery put the home side back in front five minutes after the equliser and had a 2-1 lead at half time.

We opened the second half in great style and Sandro Tonali scored his second of the evening to make it 2-2. We looked for the winner and was helped when Cityzens was reduced to ten men when Luis Diaz got himself sent off. We took fully advantage of playing with an extra man and Gerson scored the winner with fifteen minutes left of the game. Despite missing most of our chances we managed to get one more goal than them and extremely pleasing to pick up the win. This league is so competitive and we have to be at our best in every game to compete at the top of the league.

Man Of The Match:

Sandro Tonali -
An absolute superb performance from Tonali. He dominated the midfield and was clever in his offensive run. Arrived late in the box and got the time and space to score two great goals. A top performance from Tonali.

Aston Villa 3-0 Manchester United
The drama in this one was before the game when Man Utd manager Arron Burrows failed to show up. A very experienced manager and not like him to no show so we hope all is ok.

That threw united into disarray and we were able to go out and secure ourselves an easy victory. Matheus Cunha took his tally for the season to 5 in 6 games with the first and last of the game whilst Clint Leemans bagged his third of the year in between. Cunha has been on fire since his arrival in the off season whilst Leemans is also finding the net a bit more in the early stages of this one.

Our 3rd victory of the season overall and 2nd straight in the league after the disappointing start - against one of our massive rivals as well. It is not the way we would want to take three points off United but, having managed zero last season it certainly helps in the bid to retain the title.

Still far too early to be looking at the league table as yet but we're putting ourselves in a solid position and laying the groundwork for a solid challenge
