Darlington - Sunderland U23s

I keep talking up the benefits of our young players playing against the men of the National League, I just think it's great for their development. These are physical games that help teach what it is to have a professional career. And it's a good opportunity for us to work on sticking to a game plan and managing the match state. As always just want us to finish the chances we will get, a result here will help set us up to achieve expectations of qualifying from the group.

Scunthorpe United - Wolves U23s

This is another great experience for our under 23s side, it is fantastic to be facing first team national league clubs as gives us the chance to play proper mens football against first team players. The under 23s have started the season well so far and I have been impressed how they have played some fantastic football. We are short of goals however we managed to score 3 in our last league game so hopefully now this is the start of us finding the net on a regular bases. Scunthorpe are a very good side as my own national league side found out on Friday night in the last league game so this will be tough.

Solihull Moors - Manchester City U23s

For our third game in the cup we're up against Manchester city who are a very good side at youth level. They have a nack for developing talented players so I am expecting this to be a difficult game. We've shown some good progress at the start of the season however we need to be stronger at the back and take more of our chances. I am proud of the players commitment so far at the start of the season and I am confident results will come.
