Doesn't matter if it's seniors, U23's or U12's - Tyneside derbies matter, Sunderland till we die!
I should have bought a lottery ticket as that's fourteen goals for us in the round. We moved it around better and robbed the horsepunchers of any penetration or verticality; Luker was key in recycling it and making himself the option for the man under pressure.
Three goals from Whittaker in the midfield was good reward for his energy and work rate. Next we'll have Coventry's U23s who lost at home to QPR and we'll be looking to replicate this performance.

Brentford U23 1–1 West Ham United U23
A pulsating U23 clash ended in a 1–1 draw, with N. Owusu rescuing a point for Brentford after S. Moore had put West Ham ahead in the opening exchanges.
West Ham took the lead in the 7th minute through Moore’s curling strike, only for Brentford to respond quickly in the 13th minute with Owusu’s clever finish. Both sides created several chances throughout, but goalkeepers S. Andersson and F. Herrick made key saves to keep their teams level.

Coventry City U23 0 - 2 Queens Park Rangers U23
Strong performance, but we didn't take our chances. We should've had this one done and dusted despite the tactical advantage being against us, but we just failed to convert any of our shots into goals.
10 shots on target against a goalkeeper who is rated similar to our strikers and none went in is just not good enough. Lots to think about as we will probably live to regret games like this if we cannot figure out a way to score goals.
