West Ham United U23 earned a hard-fought 3–1 win over Crystal Palace U23, with second-half goals from substitutes making the difference in an entertaining clash.
Both sides created opportunities in a lively first half, with Zain Marsh and Conor Redhead testing the home defence. At the other end, Ben Woodburn and Niall Clayton-Phillips went close before Kane Wooster pounced on a rebound in the 41st minute to give West Ham the lead.
The visitors improved after the break and were rewarded when Baptiste levelled on 74 minutes, firing home after a cruel deflection off keeper Herrick.
Just as Palace looked set to take control, West Ham’s subs turned the game. Armando Dobra restored the lead in the 82nd minute with a precise strike from distance, before Mahmoud Halim sealed the points in stoppage time with a composed finish.

Cagey game decided by a penalty. We got pinged a lot for fouls and that probably worked against us, gave them territory and control of the tempo of the game even though the stats say we had more of the ball and moved it more - doesn't matter if you have it or pass it if you're not using it well. We've got a National League side up next I think, looking forward to crossing swords with them!
