Re: Round 2 Build Up (Fri 14th Nov)
Newcastle U23 vs Sunderland U23
We opened the U23 season with this fixture, a Tyneside-Wearside derby, and they went at us pretty hard, but we reciprocated and put them away a satisfying 5-0. I didn't think we'd then go on to have some of the scoring issues that we have, our midfield does a lot of the scoring. I talked about that after the last match against Tottenham in the U23's so won't rehash it here.
Newcastle have a lot of tasty young prospects who have joined since that 5-0 win, and we did that big deal to get Savinho into the seniors so both sides are different. I suspect their current spot on the table belies the actual strength of their team now and this will be a difficult game. But at the same time, hey, we've been away here before and belted them so we know how to do it. We just need to do it again.
Here's hoping it's not in extra time though!

Re: Round 2 Build Up (Fri 14th Nov)
Leicester City U23 vs Wolverhampton U23
So our first game in the u23s cup and we face a very hard Leicester city side. They gave us a good game the last time we played them and although I think we came out on top they made it hard for us. The cup is always a tough game to judge as it's a 1 off game so anything can happen. We're however showing very good form at the moment which is something our players can be proud of. All I can ask is our players go out their and continue the work they've done so far this season as it would be great if we could progress.
