Well well well if it isn't our old nemesis, the Manchester City U23 team! Didn't expect to play them again so soon. We are a much different side than the one that got promoted, we've got young blokes stepping up to the top flight, we've got players moving about, we've got a new 16 year old striker who's going to rule this league for years to come. I've no idea how this will actually go but it will be proper fun to cross swords with the Mancs to kick the season off.
After our fantastic season last season we're eager and ready to go for this season. With a number of new players coming into the squad who are younger it's an exciting season for the Wolves u23s squad. Captain harrison Jones is expected to play more this season after his surprise selection as captain and we've got a number of younger players who are highly lightly to have a chance of starting matches with two new young forwards and a young defender coming into the squad. Norgett is expected to stay in the youth team for this season with a view to potentially coming into the first team next season. This is expected to be a tough season as teams have improved so it may not be as easy for us. Liverpool are a very good side at this level with a top manager in charge so this will be a very hard game for us. If the players however show the commitment they shown last season I am positive we can have another fantastic season.
The season last year didn't finish as we wanted but we go again and we got a roster good enough to fight for a top three finish. DJ Esdaille and Noah Adekoya is the two new players at the club and both is an improvement defensively. They will do straight into the defence together with Amara Nallo, Lee Jonas and Jack Darius. Most likely we'll be changing into a back five this season with three or four in midfield. We're looking to get off to a winning start but we know Ian is a good manager and they will do what ever they can to stop us.
We go into the season off the back of back to back titles and we said early we're looking for the three-peat. We also have tied today's opponents Everton on the most titles won with four and we would dearly like to be the ones who make it five!
The squad is about as good as it could be with top rated players and depth across all positions. All the players have great secondary stats as well and we will be looking to upgrade on some of them as the season goes on. The only over rated player slot we are making use of so far is one for Verrell George who returns from his successful loan spell at Coventry last year to lead the line once again. Roth and Mosquera are in line for their debuts in defence whilst 18 year old prodigy and new captain Oliver Bindley will likely get his debut in midfield.
Everton are a very successful U23 outfit and not one to be taken lightly. But, being at home against a possible title challenger, this now becomes a crucial game. We'll have to be at our very best to get the three points to start the season. The corresponding game last time around was a 1-1 draw n our late season stutter. We also had an early season blip losing two of our opening three league games - we then went on to only lose another one game in the league all season. We can't rely on that again though so important to hit the ground running this time.
After a disappointing season where we escaped relegation the team looks in alot better shape so im hoping for a better campaign but its not going to be an easy season so we will see what happens, starting away to Wills Brighton wont be great as the team will be setup to use the home advantage and probably take all three points to start this one off
Oh lucky me the first game of a new season pits us against the current champions. To make it harder we get to travel to them.
Well there is not a lot we can do we have to face them at some point and if we can de rail them from the start then that would be good.
It will be hard of course but we need to try and yet again Villa have wasted no time in getting the vast majority of their players up to the maximum 20, 16 out of the 20. Will that help them?, who knows. What it will do is make it hard to retain that team next season as they will reach the 21 rating and all 16 can't remain but will go.
We have a reasonable side with a good mix of players and we hope to be competing for the title.
