Everton U23s 4-1 Aston Villa U23s
Wow - this season is starting to get embarrassing for us. 5 wins in 14 games in all competitions and 6 defeats over that time. We continue to create so many chances but just not score. 34 attempts on goal in this one and just one lousy goal to show for it despite facing 2x14r defenders and a 21r gk (once again a GK who had the game of the season for his team). It says a lot when our player was MOTM in a 4-1 defeat!
To make matters worse, we gained loads of abs and now are on the verge of losing some more players to the seniors. We might simply have to write off this league season and concentrate on the cups. Obviously we will try to keep winning games but not sure what else I can do.
In fairness, in this one I got the tactics wrong - E away from home is ropey - and we played with 10 men for a half so maybe we take solace in that and move on. We're still working hard with the youths but it's very difficult when we have to sell our best players every time they get any good. Hopefully the FMFA board will review limits before next season - but it'll be too late for some of my guys by then.
