Aston Villa U23s 0-1 Liverpool U23s

A 1-0 defeat at home to the Reds who were the better side on the day. We were knackered after our mammoth League cup semi final in the week and they were able to take advantage and punish us.

It's our third defeat in all competitions this season and takes away our unbeaten home record but it won't matter as long as we can secure the title.

With two games to play we are all but mathematically there. By my maths if we lose both our games 4-0 and Bournemouth win both of theirs 4-0 then we will still win the title on goals scored. Obviously we don't want to do it like that and would love to take two wins and wrap it up with 55 points out of 66 but getting across the line is key. We also have a league cup final vs Liverpool to think of and we have to make sure no player - in particular Lewis or Taylor - rank up before then. Therefore we will manage the remaining two league games accordingly.

A bit disappointing it's not wrapped up by now but it should be ours and we can hopefully finish with a double. This side won't be together much after this season so it's the last chance for them to take silverware as a group
