Hoops U23 1 - 3 Reds U23
A top performance away from but we let them to too many shots on target. Thankfully Ron-Thorben Hoffmann had a very good game and came up with six excellent saves. James Norris opened the score in the 9th minute with a thundering shot. The home side was back on level terms only three minutes later when Rohan Vaughan made it 1-1. Paris Maghoma thought he had brought us back in front minutes before the break but his great goal was ruled out when the referee spotted a foul in the build up to the goal.
We gott off to the perfect start to the second half when Emmanuel Airoboma slotted home our second of the evening. This time the home side couldn’t back in the game because we doubled our lead a couple of minutes later when Jack Darius made it 3-1. There was chanced to make the score bigger but attempts from Nick Kinina and Jack Darius smashed against the post. Overall a top performance and we’re slowly finding back to the results we’ve shown over the last couple of seasons.

Eagles U23 3 - 2 Magpies U23
Two teams looking to entertain and we had a very open game which ended in five goals scored. The first goal came in the first minute when Myles Peart-Harris played Caleb Redhead one-on-one with Adam Harrison and The Eagles U23 forward made no mistake. It took the away side ten minutes before they levelled thanks to a great finish from Guy Bloomer. Neither teams managed to get themselves in front before the break and it was a scoring draw when the two teams went into the dressing room.
Not a lot happened the first twenty minutes of the second half but when the home side changed their tactic they instantly scored. Once again it was Caleb Redhead and he got his first double of the season. But the visitors stucked in and for the second time in the game they got back in the game when Aiden Wilson scored the equliser. The Eagles U23 really wantes the win and threw everyone forward looking for the winner. Kartal Yilmaz came really close when his shot hammered ofg the bar onto the line but no goal given. With three minutes left of the game they got the winner from an unlikely hero. Jay Haddow scored his first goal for the club and the home side secured a great win at home to Magpies U23.

Re: Group Game 2 Results and Reactions
Everton U23s 0-2 Aston Villa U23s
As we expected Everton didn't play the strongest side they possibly could here and it opened the door for us to step in and pick up the three points away from home. Two goals in the first half hour from Karamoko Dembele settled the match but we were dominant overall and it could, perhaps should, have been more.
A word for Dembele who signed last season from Arsenal. He didn't quite have the season he would have wanted last time but he has come flying out of the blocks this season with four goals in the opening four games. He plays as an AM every game and could do a job as a FW as well so he brings so much to our attack. Will be interesting to see if he can make it through to first team level when he graduates next season or if the club will try to hold him back longer.
It's always a pleasing result to get a win over David as he's a tough manager to beat and his sides are reigning U23 champions. We do not expect this to be the XI we face when we line up against them in the league but he has a big squad and he uses this one for development. We choose to run a squad with low numbers and so don't have that luxury - but what we have is a top quality side whoever we put on the field. And that was the difference maker in this one.
Two games in and we're top of the group with our toughest fixture out of the way. In fact, for the season we are four wins from four with only one goal against and three of those games away from home. A very positive start this time around as we look to put the disappointments of last season behind us and challenge on three fronts. We can't win anything at this stage but we can lay the groundwork for a successful season

Re: Group Game 2 Results and Reactions
Wolverhampton Wanderers U23 2-0 Derby County U23
Our unbeaten start to the season continues as we pick up a very satisfying 2-0 win over a good Derby side. On paper they are much the better squad so it was nice for us to pull one over on them. Jordan Allan continued his great start to the season with his 4th in four games before Ryan Trevitt scored his first goal for the club on the stroke of half time. The second half was fairly dull but the job was done for us then heading out comfortable winners
Stevens, Tagseth and Maguire all made debuts for the club and showed quality moments. But of the four debutants it was David Osifo who was the most impressive putting in a man of the match display at the centre of defence. He is a cut above the other players in the squad and is a fantastic prospect for this football club at just 17 years of age.
The win coupled with our opening away draw puts us top of the group in the early knockings of this competition and, at this stage of the year, we are performing well above expectations. Sure a dip will come but us and the fans will keep enjoying it until then
