Crystal Palace 0-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers
A third minute goal from Nathan Redmond was enough to win this incredibly tight affair. It was an entertaining game that deserved more than one goal but there was nothing between the teams and the hosts will probably be disappointed they didn't find at least a point from it. But we have been mean defensively this season and that was our third consecutive clean sheet and second straight 1-0 win.
With two teams going through in this one (I have checked lol) the result guarantees us a spot in the quarter finals and confirms the elimination of Palace from the competition. We will play off with Sheffield United for top spot in the final round but I don't think winning the groups brings any extra so we can treat it as a dead rubber and rest some players which will be nice after an intense start to the season. We didn't think we'd be here after that defeat at home to The Blades in matchday one so it's been a very satisfying campaign since then - in fact that was our last defeat in any competition. Things are ticking along nicely and getting to the business end of a cup is always nice for the fans so we're very happy for them

We had to win if we wanted to get into the knockout stages but a goal from Nathan Redmond sent us out of the tournament. The visitors scored after only three minutes played but despite a lot of time left of the game we never managed to put them under pressure. They controlled the game and got exactly the result they wanted. We haven't been up to the standards we need to in this group stages and never looked like making through the group stages.
