Aston Villa 0-1 Liverpool
After the visitors had extra time in the week and we were missing two key mids and our best FW this maybe wasn't the spectacle fans had hoped for. They scored in the first minute and that was it for the game. We were forced to play an unfamiliar formation that isn't conducive to scoring and in the end, whilst a draw would have been fair, we missed out on anything. Worryingly that's three defeats in a row in all comps and the bad run has come at just the wrong time.

With Liverpool beating us, Arsenal beating Everton and Bournemouth drawing at brentford, there are just four points between the top five and we are holding onto that top spot with two games to play.

All the contenders have 1 home and 1 away game with the exception of Liverpool who play home twice - but they meet 4th placed Everton and second placed Arsenal. Bournemouth host us before travelling to Everton whilst Arsenal have a home game against Man Utd who have been dismal this season before their trip to Anfield. We have a very tough trip to Bogey side Bournemouth before finishing at home to Derby.
It is too close to call - we are now the only side with it totally under our control as two wins will see us crowned champions again. I'm not sure anyone will get two wins though.
In the next round of fixtures, either Liverpool or Everton or both will be eliminated from the race. Whoever loses the game between them can't win the league whilst a draw puts both out as either us or Bournemouth will be on at elast 43 points and they'd only be on 39. If we can get a win on the South Coast then it'll be down to us and Arsenal as a two horse race - unless the Gunners fail to win in which case a victory would wrap it up for us. I can't remember the last time I beat Matt on ESMS though!
After this game we will have players back available. Suspensions cost us in this one. Hopefully they will be raring to go and we can find the critical result
