Hartlepool United 4 - 0 QPR U23

Ok that's much better, though flatters them a bit given they started three recognised defenders and had one sent off for an awful tackle. Francis hat trick is grand, that's 11 goals in all competitions now and he's obviously come in after that 2 game suspension roaring and ready to go.

I know we were already through our group and beating up on a U23 team probably doesn't tell us a lot about how we'll be when we're playing other mature bodied sides, but this is about getting our fundamentals right and clarifying our game after a really poor run of form in recent games. So to that end, I'm quite pleased and now to try to bottle some of this good touch up for Round 14 in the league.

Dagenham and Redbridge 0 - 1 Sunderland U23

So this is a win and in for us, I think qualification is the winners of each group plus the seven best placed runners up and win we did.

Won't lie, when I saw their sheet I expected that reactive and dense sort of setup Sunderland have struggled with at all levels in the last few weeks but then they tried to pass through us and it made for an interesting tactical battle. Pleased to be able to report that we edged it with E_Moore being pretty clinical today in a tight game and scoring the winning goal.

Also won't lie, I'd given the orders that if we went a goal up to pack everyone behind the ball and make them find a way through us - there's developing players by playing and learning to do things, and then there's the pragmatics and professionalism of managing game states and protecting leads because winning is development too. Sometimes you need to win at all costs and that's what we set out to do today.

It means you can see clearly the potential of some of our players; Jayden Luker, Burke and Carre all have bright futures in the game and you can see someone like Luker navigating the step up to senior football no problems and being a pretty well rounded midfielder. We know there are clubs sniffing around because their scouts are watching our games all the time and we'll see if that means his future is here or elsewhere if the offer is right.

Leamington 5-1 Wolves.

All I can say about this is my players should be ashamed and they know this was not a good enough performance. Every single player in the team was completely off form today and Leamington came out of the traps firing early on and were clinical. Now we've got to forget this and move onto the next match in the league. The players know this was not a good enough performance and that things need to improve.

Solihull Moors 3 - 3 Cristal pallis u23s.

Given the way the game went a draw was probably a fair result in this one. It was a very end to end game and both sides created chances. It was upsetting that we could not hold our two goal lead however Cristal Pallis faught hard and came bak and that's the sign of a good team. Really proud of the players as they managed to score another few goals which is the one thing i've really been keen for us to improve on and we're doing that which is all I can ask.

M_Campbell (15) M_Sharpe (4,10)
Sent Off: R_Meneghini (88)

not the best performance but 2 goals from sharpe won it for us and dissapointed that i had a player sent off my team is lacking as it is and now we have to do without meneghini
