Sunderland U23 - West Ham U23

New look squad same consistent results from us. Both sides had moments but we had that cutting edge, that sharpness I've been banging on for a few weeks now. Two of our new boys got half an hour each and looked pretty tidy so that's pleasing. We now will look at what we can do to firm up progression out of our National League Cup group, the more games we can get in the better in my view.

Sunderland U23 3–1 West Ham United U23

Sunderland U23 produced a composed and disciplined display to overcome West Ham United U23 3–1, with goals from B. Slade, E. Moore, and substitute J. Waters securing the points.
The hosts took the lead on 11 minutes when defender B. Slade surged forward and fired home after a loose clearance. West Ham responded quickly, K. Wooster equalising with a brave header following fine work by S. Moore.
After the break, Sunderland reasserted control — and within two minutes E. Moore restored the lead, lashing in from close range after good build-up by J. Carre. From there, the Black Cats dictated possession, with midfielders Jayden Luker and M. Burke running the tempo while keeper A. Maguire made five crucial saves to deny a lively West Ham frontline.
Late on, as the visitors pushed for an equaliser, J. Waters sealed victory in the 89th minute, capitalising on tired defending to make it 3–1.
