Blades 1 - 2 Eagles

A result we didn't deserve but we managed to score twice from three shot on target. The home side had the double amount of shots on target but Guglielmo Vicario had a good game for us and made nine saves. Without him tonight, we've lost the game. Breel Embolo scored against run of play midway through the first half and we could go into the break a goal up. Straight from the kick off Riyad Mahrez levelled for the home side and they looked like the team likely to win the game. But yet again we managed to get ourselves in front when Granit Xhaka scored from distance after an hour played. The home side had chances to make it a draw but thankfully we rode luck and came away with three points.

Tottenham Hotspur 0 - 0 Fulham

Poor performance in Round 2 as we failed to really test their goalkeeper enough. Both sides had few chances to score, and a 0-0 draw is probably what the stats suggest is the right result.

We're hoping to be stubborn and hard to beat this season, but we also need to ensure that we create chances for our forwards too, especially against a weaker goalkeeper.

Opportunity for points missed, but still happy with how we've started the new season!

Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-1 Burnley

The opposition turned up with a 3-4-3 formation which is one I have rarely seen but it did give them the counter in their tactics so I was a little concerned about this one from the outset. They came out of the blocks very well so it was against the run of play when Giovane Simeone scored his first goal for the club after just 12 minutes. Their formation meant they were always a threat but it exposed them at the back and Sam Lammers doubled our lead just 10 minutes later with his second for the club. Another second came just ten after that with Simeone adding his second of the game and the season and at this stage, the match was likely done. It definitely was before half time when Ruben Neves added a fourth and we were in complete control. Alun Armstrong hit back with a consolation for them just into the second half but there was never any doubt from that stage and the only disappointment is that we didn't score more in the second half.

So two wins out of two to start the season although both have been at home so far so we won't be getting carried away. The team is performing well and we are continuing to work and shape the squad. I am confident that someone will be viewing this side as a decent managerial opportunity before too long. Until then I will continue to be working as hard as I can with them and hopefully keep them on a winning run in the league whilst getting through in cups if we can.
