Re: Round 5 Reaction
Red Devils (2) 4 - 2 (2) Reds
A disappointing result for us and I felt we did enought to get a result at Old Trafford. But we can't defend like this if we want to perform away from home. Alejandro Garnacho opened the score when he scored from a great scissors kick in the tenth minute and we felt we had control of the game. We played very well and produced chances in almost every attack we had. But we was open at the back and the home side started to find out how to break down our defence. The equliser came in the 20th minute when Moises Caicedo ripped one from distance. Ivor Pandur had no chance. Only three minutes after their equliser they scored once again and they had turned the game around. We didn't give up and got back in the game after half an hour played when Alejandro Garnacho got himself a brace. Joao Felix had chances to score in the dying seconds of the first half but we couldn't get ourselves back in front.
The half time talk didn't work and when we lost Joao Felix through a minor knock at the start of the second half, we lost the self belief. We let the home side dominate us and we didn't play as an unit. After an hour played they won themselves a penalty after Ivor Pandur made a deliberate foul on Rasmus Højlund and Pietro Pellegri stepped up to score his second of the evening. William Saliba should have made it 3-3 with nine minutes left of the game when his thundering shot hit the inside of the post but it wasn't our day. Seconds later the home side turned the game into a win when Rasmus Højlund made it 4-2. We also lost Ruben Dias late in the game when he recieved his second booking of the game. These kind of games is so important to get something from and we've let ourselves down by being unorganized.
Reds - Man Of The Match
Alejandro Garnacho - Had a great game up front and scored two great goals to keep ourselves on level terms at half time. But he had to do most on his own and his team mates didn't make it easy for him. Garnacho has had a tough start to the season but is starting to show his qualities and was absolute outstanding tonight despite us losing.

i knew this would be very tough game and so it proved as we now lose 2 on the bounce and 2 without scoring need to be more competitive if we want to stay i nthis league

Re: Round 5 Reaction
Aston Villa 0-2 Brighton and Hove Albion
I first tried the E tactic with three at the back two or three seasons ago and it has been semi successful since then. I think the experiment has now run its course though as we were well beaten despite having the counter and home advantage. The match stats were even but the counter of E against C doesn't do enough to create the chances with only one up front. I have always had a love/hate relationship with the European tactic anyway as it seems hit and miss and I have never been able to get one of my sides winning consistently with it. The time may have come to scrap it completely.
However, that then brings the question of what to play against a counter attack when at home. A and P give it the counter whilst N normally leads to a dull game if going against C. Some analysis required I think
For this game we will right it off to experience and leave it at that. The annoyance is that I guessed totally correct on Will's tactic and formation but still couldn't beat him. Five at the back seems almost impregnable these days.
It's a setback in our campaign but we had a few of those last year and came back to win. We pick ourselves up, dust off and go again at the weekend.

Re: Round 5 Reaction
Manchester City 2-0 DERBY COUNTY
The game was a lot more even than I was expecting but they were just more clinical than we were. This was our last league game without our first choice striker so we are hopeful we will be able to convert more of our chances going forward. We had 7 shots on target (1 less than out opponents) but couldn't convert.
