Re: Quarter Final Leg 1 Reaction
Aston Villa 3-1 Petro Luanda
When we went 1-0 down early on against an unmanaged team, I feared it'd be another frustrating day. Fortunately this seemed to wake us up as Sam Lammers hit back with a quick fire 1-2 before Leemans made it 3-1 2 minutes later. 4 goals in a crazy 7 minute spell and we then managed to control the game. Our only regret is that we didn't win by more and well and truly put the tie to bed. We face a tricky trip to Angola for the second leg but have to go in as favourites to progress. There are some tough sides left in this competition and we're fighting on 2 fronts so it would have been good to have it wrapped up but we can still afford to rotate a little and hopefully progress.
The win was important for our season as we hadn't won on our previous 2 outings and had lost our last 2 at home in the league. We have dropped a little in the table and our next 2 matches are at home to the top 2 so it was crucial we returned to winning ways in time for that. It's now a massive phase in our season and one that will decide if we're in contention for trophies or to be also rans once again. The first result is on the board and now attention return to the title challenge.
