Re: Round 10 Results and Reactions
Derby County 1-1 Aston Villa
Not a terrible result on the road here but a frustrating one when we played well over an hour against 10 men. C vs C is always a game that nullifies the two teams involved and, when they had Pablo Mari sent off after 27 minutes they reacted well - subbing a FW for a defender - to go 4-1-3-0-1 and keep the game nullified.
I thought we had won it when club captain Diogo Nascimento broke the deadlock after 73 minutes. The product of our youth system scored his first goal since taking the arm band and celebrated with the crowd who love their home grown talent scoring for the club. He has been with Villa for 7 seasons now and was a product of our youth scouting - now showing as first team captain what can be achieved from the youth.
Sadly it wasn't to be as they reacted well again making subs and tactical changes to go to 3-0-3-1-2 and former Villain John Mahon won a penalty in the last 10 minutes which Schade converted.
Overall a draw was probably a fair result and Derby are a side doing well in the top half of the table so we can't be too disappointed. It's our first league draw as well so it's pleasing to avoid a defeat. We drop to third but with Liverpool losing it's a point gained on them so we're just 2 points off the top.
One of those days that could have been better - could have been worse. We take it and move on.
