Aston Villa 0-0 River Plate
Another game against a team who we thought had a manager but, if they do, he didn't turn up and we were therefore shocked tactically again. A really tough prospect when you aren't sure who you will be facing week in week out.
For a 0-0 there were plenty of chances created in the game but, with just 1 up front against the counter attack we just couldn't get the breakthrough we needed. Overall we edged the game on the stats but the draw wasn't a surprising result for anyone watching the game.
We're 2nd in the group with a slender one goal margin on GD. It's still in our hands as wins in our remaining games should see us through but we're making far harder work of this group than we needed to and it's become a bit of a slog. Fingers crossed we can pick up a win next time out to ease the pressure.
